Built by an engineer, for engineers.

Summitward started as a personal spreadsheet. Its creator — an engineer with a PhD in electrical engineering and a career spanning aerospace and tech — was tracking net worth the same way most FIRE community members do: dates in column A, balances in column B, and a prayer that the formulas still worked.

The spreadsheet couldn't run 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations, perform Fama-French factor regression, or optimize a Roth conversion ladder. So the Engineer Investor built something that could — and made it available to everyone pursuing financial independence.

How Summitward Works

1

Add your data

Enter your net worth manually or import a CSV. One number is all it takes to start.

2

Get instant analysis

Your dashboard lights up with FI progress, growth trends, projections, and milestone dates.

3

Go deeper

Monte Carlo simulation, factor regression, Roth conversion optimizer, and more — available on the Summit tier.

Philosophy: Math First

Every projection in Summitward is backed by peer-reviewed financial models — not rules of thumb or gut feel.

  • Fama-French factor regression (CAPM, FF3, FF5, Carhart) to decompose portfolio returns into systematic risk factors.
  • CEFR funded ratio to measure your ability to meet future liabilities, not just your net worth number.
  • Monte Carlo simulation with 10,000+ paths, five spending policies, and confidence bands from P5 to P95. We show the full range of outcomes — not just the optimistic one.

The Engineer Investor Ecosystem

  • Summitward — FIRE planning and net worth tracking (you're here).
  • Card Savvy (card-savvy.com) — Math-first credit card optimization.
  • GitHub (github.com/engineerinvestor) — Open-source projects and contributions.
